Jenn's TV Recap Part 3

The Final TV Recap for the 2014 Mid-Season. Wow. It's really almost 2015 isn't it?

Time really does fly the older you get, huh?

All righty, here's part 3, as promised.

I know I'm missing some shows and I know I haven't finished all the mid-season finales yet, but I think I have enough to go with. :-)

Possible Spoilers

The 100

I'm really getting into the whole YA thing, though I can do without the love triangles. They're mostly annoying. So, I'm happy that it's no longer an issues on The 100. They got rid of the first love triangle in season one and while the second love triangle was interesting and felt more organic, I'm glad it's over, too. Now Clarke can get with Bellamy. Hey, I didn't say I don't want a little romance in my TV shows, I'm just over the love triangles. :-) Anyway, this is still one of my favorite new shows to
make it to season 2. I know it's not following the books as closely, which is probably a good thing considering the reviews I've read, but the characters on this show are amazing - from the parents to the kids to the creepy Mount Weather people and the Grounders. I can only imagine where this show is going but it has tremendous potential. It doesn't hurt there are lots of hot people either. <3 Lincoln!

Once Upon A Time

I hated the Snow Queen's story. They didn't do it justice at all. I would have rather seen more flashbacks with her and Emma and some other reason for the SQ to be all evil and whatnot. I'm also tired of the writers looping Regina about around again and again for no good reason. I don't have a very good feeling about the new Queens of Evil story line either, but...I'll stick around a bit longer and see what happens, but it may be my last season.

Supernatural

I'll never give up on the Winchesters. I'm not sure how I feel about this season, so far, but the addition of Crowley has been awesome...up until they introduced his mother. The few scenes with them have been funny, but I hope she doesn't stick around long. The last episode with Jimmy's daughter was better than I expected. It's nice how the writers bring back characters and actors from the earlier seasons and keep their stories intertwined with what Sam and Dean are dealing with currently.

Survivor

I will be honest, I fast forwarded through a bunch of the last several episodes but caught the finale which went down rather well. I still enjoy watching this show because it is a study in human behavior and sometimes it helps me flesh out a character - believe it or not. :-)

Newsroom

I still don't know why this show was canceled. I don't get all the Sorkin hate. I don't see his female characters as anything but female characters. I've know girls like each and every one of the characters portrayed on that show. Some are jerks. Some are smart. Some are girlie. Some are weak. Some are powerful. Some are strong. I actually liked all the Sorkin-logues. Above all else, I loved watching the news teams gather the stories and sources and despite the fact that it was all old news that happened months ago, I was sitting at the edge of my couch, pulse racing as I watched many of the shows. It really sucks that it's over. I would have loved to see their take on recent events including the Sony Hack. Oh well.

So, what has been your favorite show so far this year? Do you enjoy these recaps? Should I keep doing them? :-P

Jenn's 2014 Fall TV Recap #2

I have enough shows to do another recap!

I'll probably have one more after this...I know how you love them. :-)

Possible spoilers!

Arrow

I love this show so much. I mean, I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I've watched season 1 three times, season 2 twice and most of the eps from season 3 twice as well. I'm watching the mid-season finale again tonight. I love the action, the fight scenes, the feels and the sads. Mostly I love the relationships, they all feel real. Ollie, Diggle, and Felicity have the perfect chemistry and every single scene two or all three of them are in are amazing. The bad guys have great back stories as well and their reasons for being evil or evil-ish are usually very convincing and not usually for stupid nonsensical reasons. (*Cough* OUAT) This will probably go down as my favorite Superhero-ComicBook series ever.

The Flash

This show is a close second to Arrow. Hey, don't get me wrong, I LOVED Smallville, but this show is much more fun (for now) and the special effects are great in comparison to what they had to work with back in the Smallville days. Again, the relationships on this show are amazing. Every serious scene between Barry and Joe usually makes me tear up, I really believe them. I think they probably get along very well in real life. It's hard to fake such great chemistry. I'm super excited to get into the whole Time Travelness of Flash's world, because it's a big part, and I'm sure we'll have a really good explanation for the mid-season finale.

Agents of SHIELD

I didn't hate the first season like some people did. I thought it was fun and different. This season, so far, has been astounding. So many reveals and action scenes and tender moments and feels! Don't you love Bad-Ass Skye? She and May need to have a huge fight with someone in the next half of the season. I still love Coulson's one liners. His delivery always cracks me up. I'm not too happy with what they did to Trip in the finale, so I hope they find a way to bring him back. I'm also looking forward to the Agent 33-Ward situation, that's gonna be fun to watch.

Castle

One of the few cop procedurals I still watch. I can't help myself, Castle is a great character. As a writer, that's what I tend to focus on the most. Him being a writer is just icing, ya know. I love when the show is silly or has a wacky premise or potential conspiracy theory type plot or mystery. They do them so well. The serious ones are fine, too, and I'm so happy that Beckett and Castle's relationship is still the same for the most part. Despite being a hopeless romantic, sometimes when TV couples get together the fizz just fizzles out. :-)

The Originals

I freely admit the only reason I started watching this show is because of Elijah and Hayley. Their chemistry on The Vampire Diaries was unbelievably hot. I don't know why they had to mess with it so much. I'm kinda not invested in them anymore. However, thanks to some clever plotting and mama drama, I'm enjoying Klaus again. He's a dick, and he's always had a great reason to be a dick, but now I want him to be a dick. I like evil Klaus way more than when anyone tries to redeem him. I like the original Kol more, too, but the kid playing him now is cute, and I like him with Davina, so we'll see what happens.

The Vampire Diaries

I'm not sure why I'm watching this show still, probably because Alaric is back, I love him. The show has SO many inconsistencies even I've noticed them, but Damon is fun to watch when he's bad and I think Caroline and Stefan would have been good together, but like The Originals, it's a little too late now, I won't buy it. I think it's time for Elena to make her final choice between the brothers and put this show to bed. I'd LOVE to see a few of the characters move over to The Originals because they're good characters for the most part, it's just the whole love triangle thing is over and done, cooked and burnt.

Criminal Minds

Another procedural I watch, but, I have to admit, I've been fast forwarding through parts here and there, because, for the most part, it's always the same story. I think it's time for someone in the group to be in jeopardy again, or the team as a whole needs another Reaper or something. I like that they are giving the characters more personal life stuff to draw off because it wasn't something they did often in the first few seasons. I'm not really sure what else they can do, not that they have to, it's still a highly rated TV show, I'm just not as excited as I used to be to watch. I'll never stop, though. Duh.

So I think I have another handful of shows left for this fall season. What did you think of the season so far? Are you watching any Winter shows like Agent Carter?!? I'm already watching The Taste. :-)

2014 Fall TV Recap Part 1

It's that time again friends! I know, you wait for theses all year long. Tehehe.

Most of the shows I watch sign off in the next two weeks, but we had a few early finales, so we'll talk about those.

FYI - Possible SPOILERS!

Blacklist -

I'm not as into it as much as I was the first season and I think Liz & Ressler have a lot to do with it. I get that you need conflict, but it's really annoying when every single show that has some type of law enforcement officer in it has to deal with prescription drug or alcohol addiction. It's a little played out for me. Liz is annoying. Red is the the only reason I watch the show right now, he kills it every single week...and sometimes someone.

How To Get Away With Murder -

Wow. Just wow! While I took a guess that it was Wes who killed Sam to save Rebecca from him, I didn't expect all the other stuff before and after it. Wow. There are so many avenues each of the characters can go in the next half of the season, so I'm very excited to see how they play out. One of my favorite freshman shows ever. I just hope they can keep it up.

Scandal -

I feel really bad for whoever has Olivia. Fitz is gonna sic Jake who will probably recruit Huck and  man...I don't want to be whoever that dude/dudette is. The VP probably won't make it to the end of the season alive either for his part. Many of the side plots and "fixee of the week" plots are much more interesting to me than who Olivia should be with, but I'm very happy she finally came to terms with the fact that she loves them both, for different reasons, and really doesn't want to chose. However, whenever she and Fitz are together, man, they have some scorching chemistry. Also, as creepy as it has been, Quinn and Charlie make much more sense than Quinn and Huck.

The Walking Dead -

I was never a big Beth fan. I kinda wanted her to die, a lot, over the last few seasons. So after some douche ruined it for me that she was going to die, I went into the episode with a different outlook. When Michonne told Maggie they'd found Beth and she was ok...I was really pissed and sad that I got spoiled. Grrr. I'll never know what my reaction would have been or whether I would have been sadder at the sudden loss. Going in and knowing only made me super sad for Maggie which made the end even harder for me having lost a sibling myself. I think the shock factor would have suited me better. Meh. However this season has been great. I love the focus on our group again with all the outside plots and characters staying minimal. I still do not like the episodes where they focus on one separate group, I like all the groups mixed into the episodes.

Sleepy Hollow -

There is so much Katrina hate out there, I really don't get it. Sure, she has to be rescued a lot. But A. Not her fault-blame the writers. B. It's not like she's from present time and completely understands our world yet. C. It really is okay to be a damsel in distress when, you know, a fucking headless undead ax wielding demon is in love with you. and D. Your witch/dammed son is working for another demon who is hell bent on starting the apocalypse. I think people just want to get rid of her because they want Ichabod and Abbie to get together, which I really, really, really don't want to see happen. I like them just the way they are. That being said, I've enjoyed this season, I like the longer arch stories as opposed to the creature of the week, which they still do, and I like that they are expanding the cast a little. I would have liked to see more of the Reenactment Tailor girl, (forgot her name) I thought she was adorable and loved her interactions with Ichabod. It's cooky but I love it.

More to come next week!
