Short, with a wide lower fuselage, it normally invoked fear in enemy troops. It meant another such craft had already disgorged a squad of Marines from orbit, and Navy or Border Guard Spec Force troopers waited inside to come swarming out. She knew. She had flown one of these during the liberation. The Gelt remaining on Amargosa had told her they did not like that many had been converted to civilian use.

She expected her visitor, however, to arrive by barrow, a ground vehicle favored by most of Amargosa’s rural inhabitants with two wheels in the front, a pair of treads in the back, and a long open bed behind the cab. Her friend had commandeered a military one for himself when the occupation ended, calling it, as so many of the liberators, resistance fighters, and stranded Gelt did, compensation for the war.

He normally came by barrow, the farm vehicle bouncing along the still-unpaved roads north of the Townships. That, or he would come by foot if he were in the Townships themselves. The shuttle, a type dubbed a “Falcon” by the Navy, told her he had been in one of the cities. Which meant he had been called to duty.

The Falcon bore the markings of the Amargosan Colonial Guard. Only lettering on the craft’s belly, “Property of Compact Navy,” gave any hint that it actually belonged to the Compact proper, not Amargosa. After two years, Suicide still did not know if she lived in the Compact or not. That civilian Gelt remained on the planet after their kind had trampled it for a year still surprised her, never mind Amargosa’s status in political limbo.

The craft settled in a wide section of thin, dry grass, its antigravs and maneuvering jets kicking up dust. Given the fuel a planetary hop would take, Suicide guessed her friend had been in the capital or had been shuttling to and from the surface. So much for bot wrangling.

The assault hatch fell open in the back, becoming a ramp as it lowered to the ground. Instead of a dozen hyped-up soldiers with KR-27 rifles lit up and racked, a single euro male strolled out wearing a civilian flight suit.

So, he’s Amargosa this time¸ she thought, not Navy. And not Hanar. This last, a polity started almost as an apology for a Gelt invasion elsewhere, had been making overtures to Amargosa to join with them. She had seen her friend in their uniform and in that of the Compact Navy since they both “retired” to this place.

He had been busy, a couple of days’ stubble on his chin, his already messy hair ruffled by wind, and matted with sweat. He had bags under his eyes, but he also walked with a bounce Suicide envied. Even rejuve could not restore that spring people had in their step before their twenty-fifth birthdays. Aging may have been stalled, even reversed in some cases, but it still took its toll in certain ways, just to remind humans that amortal still meant mortal.

Her friend needed rejuve. Never mind that he would not turn twenty for a few more months. The war and its aftereffects had changed him. The illusion of greater age that had served him as a ruse in his younger days now displayed the weight the occupation still had on him. He walked like a man whose burdens refused to leave.

“I came as soon as I heard,” he said. “Mom.” He winked.

The word “mom” brought a smile to her face, despite herself. Yes, it was a joke between them, but the word struck a nerve with her every time. This man was her son, if only by choice, and with no legal declaration. “JT, if I were your mother, you would have been spanked as a child.”

He took a pair of shades out of his breast pocket and put them on. The name “Lt. J.T. Austin” stood out on the pocket. “I’m glad I was never spanked until I was an adult.” He frowned. “Not that I’ve had much opportunity these days. You heard?”

“Governor Best? Yes.” She gestured toward the Falcon, the name Goldeneye stenciled on the side. “Yours?”

“The Colony’s,” said Austin. “Been flying over the pole the last couple of days, trying to rally some lycanth packs in case very bad things go down, and we’re on our own again.”

“What about our gray friends?” she said, referring to the Gelt. “Nervous? Hopeful?”

“They’re a bunch of scared settlers brought here against their will,” said Austin. “They’re just happy we’re not shooting them, and the lycanths aren’t trying to eat them. Well, the intelligent ones. We all need a shotgun and several boxes of shells to hold off the wild ones.” He glanced toward the hut. “You said you needed me. I flew straight here from my last run instead of to the farm. What’s happened?”

As if on cue, a baby’s cry sounded from the hut.

“Oh,” said Austin. “Well, that’s…”

“You know what the best part about considering you my son is?” said Suicide.

He gave her a half-smile. “It’s not real, and I was practically an adult when we met?” He gestured toward the house. “Lead the way.”

<!--

He’s perfectly happy keeping things casual and friendly with whoever catches his eye. Then Rose shows up at the Halloween Fundraiser with her boyfriend and Drake sees his chance to get closer to her. He invites them both to his club for some risqué fun.

Rose Derby never expected Drake to be interested in hooking up after ditching her months ago in New York. His naughty proposition, however, has her mind spinning and heart racing. But things don’t go according to plan. She finds herself the target of some nasty Psychics, dredging up her painful past and infecting the present.

For them to have a future together, Drake and Rose must uncover the mysterious attackers while dealing with feelings neither has experienced before. When the danger hits close to home, Drake will stop at nothing to keep Rose safe, even if it means letting her go.

EXCERPT:

Sneaking into one of the server doors for the commercial kitchen, Drake nodded to a few of the men and waved at the women as he skirted through the catering staff, and rushed into the hallway.

He burst out of the secret passage in the library, startling a few of their guests. Drake apologized and focused on the secondary bar they’d set up, searching the group for her.

Having missed his chance to hook up with the fiery Empath back in New York during his summer visit, he was more than ready to try to get Rose into his bed now that she was in

London permanently. Rose had ‘gotten away’ once and he wasn’t going to let it happen again.

His eyes settled on a plump ass covered in black leather, one thigh strapped with a big Sci-Fi weapon. Drake’s backbone tingled. The curvy woman in the blue jacket turned around, her hazel eyes widening with recognition even with his mask on and lack of usual scruff.

“Hi!” she said, her Psychic block up tight, unlike the first time they met when she couldn’t take her eyes off him and her naughty thoughts ran free.

“Hey, hey, Rose Derby, so glad you made it,” he replied, lifting his hand, moving closer, trying to read her body language as she modeled the costume for him. She was still as fucking cute as the first time he saw her. Her fresh, freckled face and stunning smile lit up as he whistled at her outfit. “Trying to think…some bounty hunter?”

“Close,” she said with a laugh, shaking his hand casually, not coming in for a hug sadly, and brushing the curly raven hair from her shoulder in an obvious flirty move. “Dutch, super badass from this show when I was a kid.”

“Yeah, I…vaguely remember that. Sci-Fi, eh, not my favorite.”

“No? What do you like, Drake?” Rose’s smooth, tawny cheeks got darker, her voice dropped an octave, and those bright eyes glimmered.

GIVEAWAY

<!--

she fanned herself off in the bathroom replaying his words in her mind. Rose
knew Drake Reyes didn’t have a specific type. She had jealously watched him
flirting with every kind of woman at the New York hospital fundraiser and saw
him photographed with even more. Problem was, he was absolutely her type, large
with dark features, light green eyes, and a charming swagger to die for. He
made her weak in the knees with a simple look.

Finding out he played
with couples, almost made her panties wet. He wasn’t as straight-laced as his
brother Dante, but Rose had no idea he had a kinkier side. She wondered why he
wanted to play with her and James. He seemed as interested in her date as she
was, tepidly. Still, it was a great way to get closer to Drake without strings,
something he seemed bound to no matter who he was seen with. Women never lasted
long around him with his two-time rule.

Rose didn’t want any of that bullshit.

Read Book One Now!

<!--

And she bungled it . . . badly. Now only a cursed hatter and a tormented water nymph can fix the damage.

Tuscany, 1603Andolosia Petasos dreams of being the next Da Vinci. Only Fate has cursed him to make hats. It’s not Andolosia’s fault. After all, a Greek ancestor stole Hermes’ teleportation hat and brought down all of Olympus. And the gods don’t easily forgive that sort of thing.

In Olympus, Moira strives to weave a future that will fix the heavenly disaster. The very one she created. Meanwhile, the rich and powerful Sansone de Medici hires Andolosia to create a fantastical hat. A job that will change the hatter’s life.

At de Medici’s Florentine palazzo, Andolosia encounters the feisty Carlotta Lux. She claims de Medici has kidnapped her because she is descended from Daphne, the legendary water nymph. Of course, Andolosia has no choice but to rescue her using Hermes’ hat. But instead of gratitude, she is furious. Carlotta had been within inches of killing her captor.

Because Sansone de Medici is not who he seems. He is driven by a supernatural urge that demands he never gives up the chase. And Andolosia and Carlotta can’t run far enough to escape him.

Get your copy now!

EXCERPT

Fait Accompli: The Water Nymph Gospels, Book 1

Tuscany, 1603

Sansone peered
under the carriage. “You probably broke an axel.” He walked around to the other
side. “Let it be known, any damage will be coming out of your—” He stopped cold
at the severed leg lodged in the right wheel. A second leg, also severed at the
knee, hung limply in a nearby laurel tree. A bloody trail behind the carriage
lead to an older man lying in the road. The man was still, eyes closed and
breathing steadily.

An absurd
thought struck Sansone – Why the Devil is he napping in the road – which
fled his mind upon observing the blood-soaked ends of the man’s torn breeches,
where legs and feet should have emerged.

“God’s Blood,”
said the shaken Sansone. He batted back his nausea. “Vittorio! You struck this
poor man. Fetch him some bandages.”

“We’ve no
bandages, Messer,” Vittorio answered dismissively, as if reminding his master
that his job description didn’t include first aid to fool peasants on foot.

“Then improvise
some!” Sansone pointed at a dirt-stained, red turban spilling out of a crushed
hat box. “Get off your arse and shred that into bandages forthwith.”

Vittorio
grumbled and descended his perch – drunkenly – and picked up the turban.
Sansone sat on the road and rested the injured man’s head on his lap. He pulled
a white kid leather glove off his right hand, which was considerably darker
than his ghostly, powdered face, and began stroking the man’s forehead.

“Forgive me, my
good gentleman,” Sansone said.

The man roused.
“I am no gentleman, Messer,” he said through gritted teeth. “Just a poor hat
merchant who shouldn’t have been in the road.” He groaned.

“What is your
name, Maestro?”

“Stasi. Stasi
Petasos.”

“We shall take
care of you, Maestro Stasi.”

Vittorio pulled
a cutlass from his waist and poked a hole in the turban’s center. He worked his
fingers into the rent and ripped the fabric in two. Though slipping into shock,
Stasi lamented the destruction of his son’s fine work. He’d labored all night
to finish Madonna Vincenzo’s turban, sick with the aftereffects of hat travel –
nausea, headache, and blue-tinged vision. Stasi had decided to deliver the hat
himself, swollen ankles and feet be damned, rather than wake his exhausted son.

“Hurry,
Vittorio,” Sansone commanded.

Vittorio
pressed the swatches into each bleeding stump. Stasi winced and arched his back
in agony.

“Easy,
Vittorio!” Sansone admonished.

Sansone
unfastened the silk ribbon securing his bobbed blond hair and bound it snugly
to Stasi’s right stump. He removed his ruff collar and used it to secure the
other bandage.

“Good. We’ve stanched
the bleeding,” Sansone said to Vittorio. “We will take him to the physician in
Livorno. Help me load him inside.”

Sansone stepped
into the coach. He gripped Stasi under the arms while Vittorio lifted what was
left of Stasi’s lower half. As they laid him on the bench, the empty flask fell
out of Vittorio’s coat pocket and hit the floor with a hollow clink. Vittorio backed
away from Sansone’s withering stare. Sansone sat on the bench, gingerly raised
Stasi’s head, and rested it on his lap.

All at once, a
severed leg sailed into the coach and thudded at Sansone’s feet.

Sansone
started. “What on God’s green Earth are you doing, Vittorio?”

Vittorio poked
his head in. “Fetching the gentleman’s leg from the wheel.”

“The leg is of
no use to him now. Leave it.”

“Aye, Messer.”
Vittoria paused. “What about the leg in the tree?”

Sansone sighed,
exasperated. “Surely, if one leg is of no use, two legs are doubly useless.”

Vittorio yanked
the leg from the carriage and tossed it to the side of the road. Heshut the
coach door and headed to his perch.

Sansone noticed
Stasi’s eyes had closed. He shook his shoulders.“Do not sleep, Maestro,” he
pleaded.

Stasi opened
his eyes halfway. “I am so tired.”

“You have lost
much blood. If you fall asleep, you may not wake up. Tell me about your hats.”

“We make the
best in Livorno – my son and I.”

“You are a
maestro of millinery, then.”

“I was,” Stasi
said weakly. “I fear I have made my last hat.”

“Pshaw! You
will survive this. I insist you survive.” Sansone’s eyes widened, and he
said excitedly, “Indeed, I have a commission for you.”

“No need to
pity me, Messer.”

“This is not
pity. I have had the most wonderful inspiration. You will make a hat for my
opera.”

“What is an
opera?”

“A play that is
sung. Its title is Daphne. Do you know the water nymph’s story?”

“Aye. Apollo
chased her. She turned into a laurel tree.”

“That is the
old myth. In my version – the perfected version – Daphne’s father transforms
into the laurel tree, Apollo catches Daphne, and they unite in love. I have
been puzzling over how to stage the transformation, and now Fate literally has
thrown the answer in my path. You, Stasi!”

“Me?”

“Oh, I see it
so clearly in my mind’s eye. Branches and leaves will sprout from the top of
the hat. A trunk – perhaps of brown silk – will descend from the brim. I
venture the hat will have levers and pulleys and articulating arms. Can you
build it?”

“My son,
Andolosia, can, but he leaves for Padua today, and the expense—”

“Clearly, your
son will have to delay his trip. And, as far as the expense, I shall pay you
two-hundred florins plus the cost of the materials.” Sansone counted out twenty
florins-worth of gold coins and slipped them in Stasi’s purse. “A down payment
for the materials.” He glanced out the coach window. “Fret not, Maestro
Petasos. The physician will clean and cauterize your wounds. Then you will
instruct your son to fashion my hat. I can wait a month, but no longer. Can I
trust you to honor our arrangement?”

The carriage
halted. Stasi swooned. His eyes drifted upward.

“We have
arrived at the physician, Maestro,” Sansone said urgently. “I must have your
answer. Can I trust you to honor our arrangement?” Getting no response, Sansone
shook Stasi’s shoulders. “What is your answer, Maestro?”

“Aye . . . Aye,
Messer.”

“And I must
have the hat no later than the twenty-first of November.”

Stasi gave a
woozy half-nod and passed out.

Sansone’s eyes glazed
over, and he said in a peculiar voice, “At long last, the nymph shall be mine.”

<!--

Keeping oneself occupied is very difficult, even with the vasts amount of entertainment at our fingertips. I've watched more stuff on TV this year than the last few years combined, I'm sure!

So, let's get down to business!!

MAJOR SPOILERS

Supernatural - The final episodes.

I didn't binge this one, rather watched the last few ones weekly. I know covid changed the original ending they wanted, but I thought it was very fitting. I told my BFF about the penultimate episode and how they wrapped up the Big Bad storyline. He asked me how I thought it would end, and I pretty much got it right. Dean dead and happy in Heaven, Sam has the life he always wanted. Started and ended with the brothers. That's how I would have done it too, with a few differences. I'm not going to get into any of the controversy surrounding the final few episodes, I respect everyone's feelings on this and my take on it won't change minds anyway.

Queens Gambit - Netflix

I learned to play chess as a kid, I wasn't very good then or now, but I still like to play on occasion. Funny enough, I started playing online a few months ago, because of covid, and had seen the main actress in Emma, so I figured I'd give the first episode a shot. I didn't move until I was done! The only thing that would have made the show better is if it were a true story. Great cast, great sets, and clothing, spot-on everything!

Star Trek Discover - CBS Access (S1 on reg CBS now)

I watched the pilot when it first aired on CBS a couple years ago. I refuse to pay for Access, but a friend of mine was nice enough to share. I'll admit, the first few episodes didn't feel like Trek to me. Once I got to episode 7 with Harry Mudd, I felt that Trek vibe again and really enjoyed it. Personally, I like it when they do a standalone plot alongside the big season arch. You have to watch them all to get the full story, unlike past Trek shows where they were mostly self-contained. I'm caught up and watching S3. New episode on tonight!

Queen Solo - Netflix

This is an African spy show that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, there won't be a season two, which is a shame, because there are some unanswered questions from the first. Overall I found the pacing a little weird, but the characters were interesting and the story was pretty good. The fight scenes were pretty good, more believable than most action fight scenes, and it was wonderful seeing a story set in Africa.

The Outpost - CW

I remember watching this pilot when it first came out and didn't really care for it. When I saw it got a second season, I thought about going back and trying again, but I just wasn't in the mood. Then I noticed a friend of mine on Twitter tweeting with the cast. I asked for her opinion and decided to give it another try. This show is along the lines of the old Xena and Hercules shows from the 90s, but not as cheesy, (yes, there is some cheese, and I'm okay with that). The first season was rough, but a few of the side characters were good enough for me to keep going and I'm glad I did. It's an interesting show with a weird premise, but it works.

Upload - Prime

I like Robbie Amel, he's cute, so I figured why not. I was pleasantly surprised with this show. It has a very Matrix-like story of Heaven being a digital playground. It was funny, emotional, and had a few great characters. Worth checking out!

Utopia - Prime

Weird, trippy, must pay attention to it carefully if you want to watch. Seeing John Cusak in that role was odd, but I thought he pulled it off well. I watched it a while ago, and nothing else really sticks out to me right now.

Lovecraft Country - HBO

Wow. Just Wow. Brilliant cast, fantastic characters, and another trippy story to make your head spin. There was one scene, where Tick and Co. are chased out of town by racists police officers, and it was the most suspenseful scene I've seen in a very long time. It's gross, not for the faint of heart, by any means, but well worth giving a try.

Emily in Paris - Netflix

I was really bored okay? It wasn't great, but I chuckled a bit. I'm not sure if they played into the French stereotype of being mean to non-French people or not. I don't know any people from France personally and have never been there, but they played that pard hard, and it got a little annoying.

My Didn't Finish list:

Next - Fox. Just meh.

Swamp Thing - I have a couple on my DVR, I may go back to it and finish.

Have any suggestions? I'm always looking for something new to watch these days!

<!--

Are you kidding me?

Immediately after watching The 100 finale, I felt duped. Sad. Angry. Scratch that, FURIOUS that I promoted the show to my friends, begged others to just stick it through the first season and they'd be hooked, promised some of the deaths were worth it for the story...and so on.

Then I needed to know if I missed something, so I went back to the beginning and started all over again. Only this time, I did a super fast rewatch, skimming over certain storylines like Jasper and Maya, Jaha being stuck on the Ark, or pretty much everything that happened on Scantum in the last season because it DIDN'T EVEN MATTER. The only reason for any of those scenes was to get Sheidheda to Bardo. (Though, I will say, JR Bourne was amazing and it was great during the first watch).

Anyway, I felt the same about Season 1 as I did the first time - it got better the moment Lincoln arrived. I loved the Grounder World Building, really hated the choices most of the characters made, but saw them as real, flawed people with very few choices on their quest for survival. The finale of S1 was a cliffhanger, though it obviously didn't feel that way in the rewatch. Binging, overall, helped with the pacing of the story and made many of the episodes better and more heart-stopping when you plow right through them.

Season 2 - is the turning point for the show for me, we now have three groups of humans, all trying to survive. The Mountain Men do really terrible, horrific things to the Grounders just to stay alive. Yet again, really bad choices are made (Lexa), and Clarke and Co are forced to slaughter everyone in the mountain since they refuse to stop sucking bone marrow out of The 100 kids. That's right, KIDS. They were mostly 17-18 years old in Season 2 despite the actors playing them. I was still 100% on Clarke's side on that in the rewatch. Those people lived for 100 years, in a mountain, sucking out the blood of probably thousands of Grounders just so they could survive. I had no sympathy for them. At all.

Season 3 - Pike. Fuck you Pike. Perhaps this is partly because me, as the TV viewer, knew all the dumb decisions he made would end up just causing more conflict (which is needed), and seeing that much of conflict could easily be fixed by communication and compromise, which you'd think a group of people who lived in a space station would do once they realize people already lived on the ground, left me hating Pike and pretty much everything he did, including killing my favorite character, Lincoln. (I've read his departure was due to off-screen tension) I glossed over Jaha & Murphy's journey until they got to the City of Lights Island, however, having the whole story in my head, actually made the Allie scenes much more interesting. Before defeating Allie, she told Clarke that the planet has six months left before another nuclear disaster. Yay, fun.

Season 4 - This season, continues on with the City of Lights story, without telegraphing it by introducing the Second Dawn Bunker, though we as the viewer don't know it yet. In the rewatch, much more interesting! Either they planned to have Becca join the Bunker during this season or the retcon was utterly masterful in the future seasons. Anyway, Clarke & Co have to find a way to survive the meltdown. Octavia has become Skairippa, the most badass character in the show (after Indra), and makes the right choice in the end to share the bunker. Too bad Clarke is an asshole and tries to steal it with Jaha. Personally didn't like this dumb bit of conflict, because the only reason for it was stupid drama, and to get Clarke & Bellamy out of the bunker and to meet up with Raven. But then Clarke, having nightblood, offers to stay behind and 'sacrifice' herself so the others could get back to the Ark before the nuclear fallout. Duh, of course, she survives.

Season 5 - Not my favorite season, but it had some moments - Clarke's years alone and finding Madi - good, The Dark Year - yuck. This was another season of really bad choices and decisions, including some by the new character Diyoza who I didn't care for much until later seasons. I was really hoping to see them resolve the conflict and start rebuilding the Valley, but nope, it's destroyed and everyone has to get onto the Prison/Minning ship, and get the hell off Earth, again. The planet won't heal for 10 years or so. The last surviving humans from Earth decide to go into cryosleep. Only Monty (the true hero of the series) & Harper don't go to sleep. They stayed awake, to relive their happy time on the Ark, waiting until the Earth is healed. Only problem, it's not healing, so Monty sets the ship on course to find one of the other planets Elligius surveyed hundreds of years ago during a mining mission. Clake & Bellamy are woken up by Jordan, Monty & Harper's kid, and the most beautiful scenes in the whole series take place in the last ten minutes of the finale. Honestly, they should have woken up the main cast, had them all look out the window like they did in the S6 opener, and ended the show.

Season 6 & 7 - They didn't.

So, now we find ourselves on a crazy Moon with a bunch of humans being led by a group of Cult Leaders, who just so happen to have similar mind drives to that of the Flame and City of Light key. PS they are already in conflict with the Children of Gabriel, who don't worship the false gods. Not as bad as the Mountain Men, but the Primes are actively raising people in a fake 'religion' just so they can steal their bodies to live forever was a great twist. Wonkru isn't having any of this, so of course, they show some of the people how wrong this all is, and start an uprising with the COG, which leads the Primes to try to kill Clarke by putting one of their people's mind drives into her head. But it's Clarke, so we know she'll survive, and does, losing her mother in the process.

Gabriel, Diyoza & Octavia find the anomaly, and the two women go in. Octavia comes out a few minutes later with no memory. Ooh, fun. Tell me more. In the S7 opener, Bellamy is abducted by invisible people, and we learn where Octavia and Diyoza were in a really great flashback episode. We then learn that the anomaly is a wormhole transit bridge, and the invisible people are the Human descendants of the Second Dawn Bunker crew (cool!), however, they are all now part of yet another Cult worshiping Cadogen, The Shepard, (ugh) who has been enlightened by "higher beings" and wants to transcend the whole human race.

Um, what?

He believes that the anomaly Stone will allow Humans to participate in "The Last War" and either transcend or cease to exist, like the original aliens of Bardo (who we never get to see). Uh, okay. Jordan, Monty & Harper's kid, thinks the translation is "The Last Test" (he's right), but the fighting and killing continues because of bad choices and lack of communication. The flashback, adding Becca and Callie to the story was fantastic. If I hadn't seen this show first, I may have wanted a prequel show. I don't anymore. There's honestly no fucking point.

Anyway, Cadogen needs Madi to get the code Becca saw when she had the Flame in the flashback bunker scene. Clarke kills Bellamy to save Madi (so fucking stupid) and Cadogen basically kills the 15-year-old girl to get the information out of her head because Becca's memories were deep in her mind. She originally figured out the code and went into the White Light. Then Becca came back and said "We're not ready", because she was told about the test, but that didn't stop Cadogen.

Two hundred plus years later, after manipulating his followers, they're still not ready. Doesn't matter, Cadogen goes in, ready for war. His people are waiting for Wonkru on Bardo ready to fight. He seems humbled for a minute to learn it's a test. Before he can really do much, Clarke shoots him in the head. (lol totally worth it) Then the Contact like-judge in the form of Lexa continues the test with Clarke, who basically says what I would have, "You're a bunch of "higher-beings" who think you have the right to judge other races, eliminated them or make them part of your Borg Collective? Um, really? 1. They don't even show us the aliens. 2. If they are "higher-beings" why not just be forthright about it instead of manipulating cultures with weird, cryptic anomaly stones for thousands of years. 3. That's not what this show was supposed to be about.

The moment Clarke lost the test I knew the finale would ruin the whole show for me. However, Raven goes in, gets a second chance, and while Octavia, Indra, Echo, and Levitt are dealing with Sheidheda and the "last war" the Abby Judge tells Raven, you don't change, you just keep fighting and hurting and suffering and blah blah. Then Octavia, knowing they are on the brink, gets everyone to stop fighting. Raven asks for more time, but the Abby Judge "higher being" just starts Transcending people.

WTF?

*Sigh* Okay, fine, everyone's transcended except for Clarke, because you know, she murdered someone during the test, so she has to live as the last Human ever, with the dog, because apparently, dogs can't transcend despite being better than any Human ever alive. (So much for intelligent higher beings). BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE - Clarke goes back to Earth. Lexa Judge shows up to tell her that Humans have added wonderfully to their Borg Collective, but some of her friends wanted to come back to live out the rest of their lives with Clarke, because...wait for it, Transcendence is a CHOICE? WHAT? Didn't you just say ten minutes ago, pass the test or die?

The core group we've come to love, except for Bellamy, have all un-Transcended to spend out their remaining days on a vacant Earth, with Clarke. They can't have kids. They won't Transcend and meet up with the rest of the Humans, and once they are dead, that's it. No more humans.

HOW IS THAT SURVIVING? It's not. They ruined the whole show in one episode.

Now, I will say this, if you view (or think about) the story chronologically, the ending would have worked better, because we would have learned early about Becca and "The Last Test", first, and viewed the series as a "Strive for a better existence to pass the test" story, instead of a "we have to survive the apocalypse and continue our species" story.

So, there it is. I'll probably never watch the series again, which makes me sad.

I won't watch a prequel either. Meh.

How about you? Did you watch it? Did you like the ending?

<!--

crowd piling into the oversized dining hall, Dante Reyes sighed, unsure how
many more of these events his brother would force him to organize and attend
before the end of the year. While he enjoyed supporting worthy causes, hopping
from country to country for the last eight months was wearing him thin.
Grateful to be back in one of their homes for an extended period, he watched
the couples of Psychics and nulls filling his home, wondering how many of them
were native to London. The city had changed so much in the ten years they’d
been gone.

The air sizzled with building energy. Hoping the effervescent
and happy vibe bouncing through the room soothed him for a few hours, Dante
shut his eyes and breathed in to absorb and charge his body using the energy
below.

Drake busted through the double doors behind him,
breaking his concentration. “There you are.”

“Here I am,” he replied.

He glanced back and lifted his brow. “Do you mean it,
brother?”

“Yes, okay, yes. Such a grumpy immortal you’ve become.”

“We are not immortal.” He grumbled, turned, and stared at
the crowd, ignoring the decorative blue Colombina mask floating next to his
face. Drake chuckled and Shifted it closer, honing the skill quicker than he
had. Dante swiped the mask from the air and fixed it in place, aware the coloring
drew attention to his eyes.

“Your best feature, my man. ‘Cuz your attitude is

One more thing to put on top of all this is some of our favorite shows have and are ending. Luckily, we have a few more episodes of Supernatural coming back before they're gone for good too.

So, let's dive in.

Criminal Minds

While I loved this show for many years, it really wasn't the same for me after Shemar Moore left. I followed him to SWAT, for the better. I did watch the finale of the show and thought they wrapped it up nicely.

Blindspot

I'm still hoping for a Patterson/Rich.com spin-off. I thought the last season was one of the best, overall, and I'm happy with the way I chose to interpret the ending. I won't spoil it for you though if you haven't seen it yet!

Futureman

This show was so bonkers and ranchy and twisted and I enjoyed every second of it. Not sure what that says about me though. LOL

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

So much better than the original. Representation all over the place. Non-binary characters! Gay dads! Plus-sized Princesses!!! The animation is gorgeous. The story is fantastic and has a great ending that turned twitter crazy for a whole week.

Suits

This one ended a while ago, but it had another decent ending. Most TV shows have been nailing them recently I think. This one did too.

The Good Place

I was not expecting to love this show as much as I did. I watched the finale twice. It was very touching and sweet and made me hope something like that is waiting for all of us.

Agents of Shield

That is how you do a Finale!! Wow. Not only did the writers do a bang-up job of tying all the pieces of the plot together, they gave everyone a happy ending. I'm really sad to see them go, but I love how the "story" continues, even if we're not there to see it. Similar to how I ended the MIND series.

Which, if you haven't read, has been compared to Agents of SHIELD by some readers. I take that as a HUGE compliment. If you want to check it out, book one is only 99c!! http://amzn.to/2lDOiuG

<!--

Beast Whisperer – that was Lily’s special talent. Useful, but not as flashy as some.Or so she thought. When she was a child, Lily had washed up on the riverbank near Basolt, with no memory of who she was.

Taken in by the couple who found her, she was raised as their own, alongside their new baby. Years later she does something extraordinary. And word spreads of a new Spirit Hopper, someone who can enter into and control not only beasts, but people. Someone who can change the land of Sapeiro. Someone who supposedly died years before. The rumors catch the attention of those who would control her power.

Those who would use Lily for their own purposes, no matter how many lives it costs. They set their plots to capture her in motion. But Lily discovers there is at least one group who might hold the key to her real identity. One group who would protect her. But trust does not come easily for Lily. And her would-be saviors have secrets of their own.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Excerpt:

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">She could sense the draft horses, glad for the rest the broken wheel provided them, as well as the mice scuttling in the grass. A hawk flew above, gazing on, uninterested in the scene below. The world was lit with the consciousnesses of the beings that surrounded her. She could sense them and feel their joy, fear, and determination to survive. Their emotions were her emotions.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Extending her reach further, Lily sought out the wolf pack. They were not difficult to find: seven large spirits clustered together, a few hundred meters behind the patrol. Their sharp, predatory minds were bright. They were forming a plan, intent on taking advantage of the broken wheel, which left her patrol stranded and weak. But their intentions changed suddenly, from focused planning to aggression – and finally fear.

What could make the biggest predators in the fields feel such unrestrained fear? Closing her eyes again, she extended her consciousness, probing, searching for the cause of the fear that had overtaken the wolves so quickly. There didn’t seem to be anything that could—

It was too fast for a forest bear but too slow for a horse. Its mind was intelligent, smarter than the wolves, but she was still not able to identify whether or not it was a threat.

My fascination with them started way back in the late
70s when shows like The Incredible Hulk and Batman were playing on my TV. Then there was this amazing movie called Superman which showed up on this awesome new cable channel called Home Box Office. You could watch THE MOVIES in your home without commercials!

Trust me, to an 8-year-old, watching a real movie at home was the most exciting thing in the world in the 1980s.

Something even more exciting happened in the early 1990s, they made an X-Men cartoon show just for kids and teens! Not only was it a great show, but there were several female superheroes mixed in with the males, which was something I was very excited to see having been a fan of Batgirl and her awesome purple motorcycle. (Hmm, maybe that's why it became my favorite color?)

Anyway, I missed a few fantastic superhero shows in the mid to late 90s - most of which I've since seen every episode of, yet, I never missed any of the superhero movies.

When Smallville started on the WB in 2001, I wasn't very interested. My BFF was already watching it, and I think he had it on one day while I was visiting. Imagine my shock when John Schnieder of Dukes of Hazzard fame popped up on the screen as Jonathan (Papa) Kent. I'm certain I wasn't the only one who started watching that show because of him, and I'm glad I did. Smallville was a fun, new take on The Man of Steel, and I am a sucker for an origin story, even if it lasts 10 seasons.

So many awesome characters showed up on that show. The Flash, Aquaman, Supergirl, and even The Green Arrow, who I didn't know much about. If you're a fan of This is Us, you probably know that cute Justin Hartley played Oliver Queen in Smallville. I thought he was great. Totally fell in love with his character.

When they announced that Smallville was ending, and there was mention of a new superhero show in the works, many of us fans thought that The Green Arrow with Hartley was a given.

Well, to say I was shocked to learn that wasn't happening was an understatement. I was mad. Hartley was a great Green Arrow. He had the look, the personality, and had already gained a huge fanbase. Still, I was mad. I didn't want a different actor to play Oliver.

Flash-forward to the Series Premier. Begrudgingly, I recorded the episode, since I had become a big fan of many shows on The CW, to at least give a fair assessment of why I was going to hate this show.

It took all of one minute and thirty-one seconds to prove me wrong.

From the opening scene, I was hooked. Damn it! I was still mad.

By the end of the pilot, I was all in.

And now, eight years later, it's over and I already miss it.

With each episode and season, Arrow got better and better. I loved the island flashbacks. I loved the fight scenes. I loved the characters and how much chemistry they all had. I loved all the guest stars from Spartacus (easter egg). I loved the villains. I loved the show even more when they added Barry Allen to the mix. I love all the new shows. I loved all the crossovers. I love it all!

The Arrowverse as they now call it, has become one of my favorite things ever on TV. Don't get me wrong, I love all the Marvel movies too, but I'm first and foremost a DC Girl. And while I'm very sad that I won't have the Arrow crew on my TV every week, I have the rest of the shows, and the hope that Stephen Amell will return one day.

Do you watch the Arrowverse? What did you think of Crisis? Which is your favorite show now?
Mari Yosoto thought sharing her deadly secret with her new friends would turn them away, not into a family. Now, the Monarch Crew’s next mission is to scour the solar system and take out the cult-like One Race Project. Standing in their way is Mari’s dangerous ex-fiancé, Nobu, whose obsession with Juniper and her enhanced siblings is only surpassed by his fixation on Mari’s cybernetic limbs and extraordinary blood.

Trevor Nash vows to protect Mari and the team from Nobu despite being out-powered and outmatched. He does his best to keep the crew sane and steady, even at the cost of his own mental health. Aware that Mari’s medical scans may be the key to finding and taking down the cult, he calls on his former commanding officer for help. But something sinister is brewing under the surface.

When Nobu manipulates Mari into leaving the ship and abandoning the mission, Trevor, Juniper, and the rest of the team break every rule to find her and bring her home. If the One Race Project gets everything they need to finish their 200-year-old plan perfecting human evolution, the fate of humankind will change forever.
Mari Yosoto has been keeping a dark and dangerous secret from everyone for the past three years. No one would believe her anyway, her ex-fiancé had seen to that.

Instead of wallowing in misery, she stays busy, shuttling cargo to the Moon and back, enjoying the easy work and time alone.

An old EarthCorps acquaintance asks for her help, and Mari can’t say no, even if it means working with the ex’s former best friend.
I'm super happy to say I only picked up half of a show. Okay, I'm recording Perfect Harmony, it's a comedy - I had to find something to replace The Big Bang Theory. So, I only half kept my promise.

Ah well.

I can't help it.

I love TV.

So, here are the pilots I watched and my thoughts.

Possible Spoilers!

Batwoman

I will, of course, watch any and all DC TV shows they put out there (as long as I can access them without paying extra), so I was 100% on board with a Batwoman show. Granted, pilots are usually introductions to a new world and don't always have the wow factor most people want these days, but I enjoyed this pilot overall. I didn't care for some of the narration and overreaching character dialogue "You're the female Bruce Wayne." Um, no. She's Kate Kane, she needs no comparison to anyone. I thought the cast was pretty decent and the action/fighting scenes were good for a pilot. I have faith that by episode 4-5 they will find their footing and blossom from there.

Emergence

Honestly, I wanted to watch this one because I used Emergence as the subtitle to one of my MIND books. I had to know if it was aliens. I'm not sure if it is, but it's about special powers or abilities. Sadly, it didn't grab me like I thought it would. The kids in the cast were great, the characters were well fleshed out and realistic, but eh, I don't really care enough to watch more.

Prodigal Son

If you've been reading my blog a while, you know I have a creepy fascination with Serial Killers. Mindhunter is the serial killer show I've been waiting for my whole life, so I honestly don't think anything will ever come close to it. However, this show did pretty well covering the whole psychological trauma of a family whose patriarch is a mass murderer. The rest of it felt very Sherlock to me, even down to two of the scenes, one where the protagonist was studying the victim, and the ending where you just weren't sure what was going to happen. If this gets picked up for Season 2, I may go back and watch. Not sure yet.

Stumptown

Not really sure what to make of this show. I'm still kinda over procedurals and despite the first episode being somewhat an intro, it feels like a procedural. The cast was pretty fantastic overall and the story was interesting. Just not my cup of tea right now. I'm a little tired of the same type of protagonist with similar kinds of issues who all just so happen to be super good at a couple of things that makes them so unique everyone wants to work with them. Eh.

Perfect Harmony

Anytime there is singing in a show, I will check it out. Yes, I even watched Cop Rock back in the day. Hahaha. I do love Anna Camp and Bradley Whitford. They have fantastic chemistry together. This is a fun, lighthearted show with a cute premise and some real life issues thrown in the mix. I hope there is a bit more "drama" and things don't magically get fixed every episode, but I think I'll be watching. I can use a little more glee in my life. Get it? haha

I know there are a few more shows out there. I think Nancy Drew is the only other pilot I'll be watching this year.

How about you?

Which shows did you watch? Are you going to keep watching? I'd love to hear!!
<!--
