The Doctor & River Song, a Timey, Wimey Love Story.

The Doctor and River Song have totally ruined Time Travel for me. To me, there will never be a more awesome, tragic, or mind-boggling time travel love story than theirs.

I have a theory that she's central to the 50th Anniversary Special and the Christmas Special because there a so many clues within her story line that it's possible despite rumors she won't be there.

First, I should say: SPOILERS!!!

Okay, ready?

My theory? River is still going to kill The Doctor

Here's why:
In Silence in the Library our first clue should be the fact that the name of the big bad enemy for the 11th Doctor is...omg the Silence. Episode title coincidence? Probably not. It is also the first time we and The Doctor meet River, but I think, not the first time River meets 10. She didn't act surprised at seeing 10's face. She didn't freak out when he didn't recognize her either. When she whips out her diary, she asks if they'd done the Byzantium yet. Why would she ask 10 that if 11 was the one who was there? Because I think she meets 10 again, sometime between The Big Bang and Silence in the Library (yes, I'm going backward episode wise, but forward, River-wise, confused yet?) and she isn't sure where 10 is in relation to the Byzantium/50th Episode because 10 and 11 are obviously crossing their timelines (which they're not "supposed" to do).

In A Good Man Goes to War, when River is breaking back into prison, she sees Rory. Did you notice her voice and the look on her face when she sees him? Now there are two explanations for this. 1. This is an older River than the one who shows up at Demons Run at the end of the episode and to her, at this point, her parents are dead and gone. Wait! You say. What about Angels Take Manhattan? In that episode, River tells The Doctor she's not in prison because she killed a man who didn't exist. Agreed? Well, the only reason that happened was because of Oswin, which didn't actually happen until Clara stepped into the Time Scar, thus creating those changes. (Timey Wimey) Or 2. She's just really happy to see him because it's the first time she's seen him since they locked her up in jail after she regenerated from Mels into River. Her appearances in Let's Kill Hitler and Wedding of River Song, she's the younger version.

Anyway...in that scene with Rory, she says that The Doctor took her out for her birthday. Rory has a message from The Doctor, too. From a different time, River says. Unless there are two of them, said Rory. "That's a whole other birthday," replies River. Now some may argue that this references the Mini-sodes, First Night, Last Night. I do not think so. I think she's talking about The 50th Anniversary Episode.

In Wedding, we see the young River, not shooting The Doctor and altering time. Once again, she's surrounded by the Silence, and even Madam Kovarian is there, still trying to kill The Doctor. In the alter-time, The Doctor does NOT tell River his name. At the end of this episode, we learn the question that must never be answered, which is hidden in plain sight is: "Doctor Who?" Which has a whole Academy and an order of the Silence Movement trying to stop it. So why can't the question be answered? No clue, but I'm sure it has something to do with the John Hurt Doctor we'll be seeing in the 50th.

Still with me?

Now River goes to jail, spending her days there, and her nights with The Doctor. This explains the little things like Jim the Fish, Easter Island, etc. She goes through her life, ending in the Library where 10 saves her data ghost in the computer core where, apparently, she's been conversing the Vastra.

So...

In The Name of The Doctor, River freaks out when she hears about Trenzalore. Since this version of River is already dead and gone, why would she try so hard to stop him from going there? I think River knew The Doctor's "grave" was on Trenzalore because that's where she kills 11. Each time she killed The Doctor (Hitler/Wedding) her memories are fuzzy. In Angels Take Manhattan she said that she apparently killed a man who doesn't exist,  hence she is out of jail. But why wouldn't the Silence still be watching River? They projected a signal into the TARDIS with Amy's ganger, would they really let River go so easily if The Doctor is still alive?  Also, she probably learns his name here the first time, because she's going to need it in her personal future for when she actually gets to Trenzalore the second time as a data ghost hijacker.

We all know it's the same TARDIS on Trenzalore (as of right now), the window has a crack. (A time crack? lol ok maybe not) We all know that Matt Smith is leaving. We all know there are a bunch of questions left hanging, like how did the Silence blow up the TARDIS in The Big Bang. Moffat may not be as slick a writer as RTD when it comes to sneaky hits, connected stories, and whatnot, but I have a feeling he knew his 11th Doctor story was going to be all about River and The Doctor. Whether he planned Amy to be River's mother from the get go, I'm not sure, but once he decided to do that, he created an amazing story that can only be appreciated if you watch it all the way through...a couple times. :-)

Besides, how awesome would it be to see River be surprised at meeting 10 for the first time. They had great chemistry too, I want to see them interact again!

Did I confuse you enough? What do you think about the River story line?

I'll have another post this weekend on my picks for the new Doctor being announced on BBC America at 2PM SUNDAY!!! Hope you're watching!

Fun Facts Friday

Took off last week, so let's see if I can get to five again today!

#1. I love hats! I don't have a huge collection right now because I'm kinda broke, but if I had money, I'd have a huge hat collection instead of a shoe collection. I currently have about 7 or 8 hats. They are mostly painter cap types with a few ball caps, my favorite two are the Indiana Jones Fedora (Decorative only) and my awesome new bowler hat that I got for Christmas last year from the BFF. This year I asked for a Deer-Stalker. Hope I get one!

#2 I believe in Aliens. I know, I know, kind of a given right? But hey, some people may not know that about me. Recently, I've been fixated on the whole Ancient Astronaut theory. The theory is that aliens have been coming to Earth since, well, forever, and have helped Humans along via DNA, Technology, and even in a  Religious/Spiritual nature. While I don't necessarily believe ALL of the theory, there are some part of it that make total sense to me and seem more likely than one all powerful being responsible for the vastness of the universe. Then again, you never know right?

#3 I have a weird fascination for serial killers. I don't approve of them. I don't think they are cool or should be glorified by any stretch of the imagination. I've read a bunch of non-fiction books about serial killers, watch just about any movie or TV show that has something to do with serial killers, and really, really want to write my own book about a serial killer one of these days. Gary Cole is playing a serial killer in a Lifetime movie this weekend. I have it set to record. Cole is creepy on his own, as a serial killer, he's going to be amazing.

#4 I'm very sentimental. I seriously cried all the way through Beauty & The Beast when it first came out on DVD back about 10+ years ago. I love connecting with old friends online and seeing how they're doing. I often think about people that I've lost touch with, are no longer friends with, or just plain don't like me anymore. Some Hallmark commercials have made me cry and did I tell you I cried like six times while watching A Dolphin's Tale? It's true. I did.

#5 I am unable to chose between Superman and Batman. I love them both.

Fun Friday - With Cover Designer Taria Reed

Today's blog is FUN FRIDAY! I've given over the post to my friend Taria Reed, a up and coming Book Cover designer. I know you've seen her work on the internet already, so I asked her a few questions!

Enjoy & Comment!

How did you get involved in cover design?
I always loved looking at beautiful covers. For years I spent countless afternoons in Barnes & Noble drooling over all the covers in every genre. Last January I started photographing stock for stock sites. I would see my photos and create digital art photo manipulations just for fun. I worked with design and Photoshop in my photography business (www.TariaReed.com) so one day I was asked to do a cover for a self published author who followed my art work on twitter. I loved that process and from there I decided that this is something I could do professionally. I started looking up tutorials and learning about the book design and publishing process. Once I felt I was up to par I sent inquiry letters to a few publishers and here I am today doing something I love very much.

What artists inspire you?
Art in general inspires me. I could see a photograph and think how great that would look manipulated into a cover, or I can hear a song and think of a scene that would be great for a cover using that song as inspiration. With all that said, I wanna be Dan Dos Santos or Tony Mauro when I grow up.

What are your favorite type of book covers to design and why?
I would LOVE to get more into romance covers, but I seem to excel at young adult and concept covers. Young adult covers hard at times because you have to bring this book to life without it being all sexed up. It’s easy to take a hot shirtless and stick him on a cover with a wolf, a sword, or a hot chick (not that I’m knocking that…lol.). I like doing any cover that challenges me artistically.

If you could be an exclusive cover designer for any author or publisher who would it be?
I am thankful for every publisher and author I get to work with, but I’d LOVE to be a part of the St. Martin’s Press, Simon & Schuster, Random House, or Carina Press team. Oh wait, that’s more than one, “Dammit Jim, I’m an artist not a mathematician”...lol.

Fun Friday! With TV Recap!

Thanks to everyone for stopping by yesterday for the Q&A with Larry Payne. Stay tuned for more excerpts and interviews in the coming weeks!!

Now, for some fun.

What did you think of Idol? I've been pretty good at predicting the top three, but this year, the talent is amazing and it's been hard, but I think I'm ready to commit.  I know, I know, some of you think Pia should win, but she's more Adult Contemporary than Pop, which is why she didn't get votes this week, though she was amazing. What a voice! In American Idol, the little girl vote rules and they love James & Lauren, with good reason, they are both outstanding. Casey is getting a bad rap for some reason, but he's fantastic. Scotty is perfect for Country and he'll have no problem getting a deal. I don't like Stefano, sorry. Jacob's singing is not my favored style, but he's good. I don't think Paul is radio material, but he's a great performer. Halley keeps surprising me. She MAY be the dark horse cuz she is getting better each week...So I predict, (which is actually the same picks I had during the top 20) that Casey, Lauren, and James will make it to the end.

And for even more fun: (It's with love I did this!)

Survivor was AWESOME this week. Poor Matt, done himself in, didn't he? I know people are hating the fact that Rob is running the show right now, but he's the best and he's showing you why! At this point, he's the only one who deserves to win (Aside from Matt the underdog, who has a good shot if he gets back in again) But the previews show Grant trying to make a move. Smart, but he doesn't know Rob has the idol and that's going to bit him in the ass.

For you Smallville fans out there, the Pilot is on tonight!

I want my Gossip Girl back, damn it.

Criminal Minds was okay this week, not a very good plot, but the side plot with Hotch and the team was great. I love how Morgan and Rossi always get under his thick armor.

I AM SO SAD that Courtney got voted out of Biggest Loser! I had her pegged to make it to the end! She so deserves it. <3 Courtney!

Am I the only one still watching The Event? Actually, at this point, I hope so, because some of the plot is eerily close to the book I finished a few months ago. UGH!

Big Bang Theory, always great. Love "Blossom" on the show, she's super. Now they just need to get rid of Priya cuz she's ruining the dynamic between Penny & the guys.

I checked out that new show CHAOS, it was pretty good. I'll give it another go.

Oh, I watched Tangled yesterday. LOVE LOVE LOVE! The songs weren't as good as Princess & the Frog, but the story was great and it was VERY funny. I totally want that braided, flowery hair she had!!

I watched Eat, Pray, Love the other day and thought it was a great movie. Doesn't make me want to read the book though.

Did you watch anything you loved this week? I'm all ears!
